Police: Rockford gang member runs from officers during weapons arrest
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Davontae Curry, 29, on multiple weapons charges.

On July 3, around 1 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic stop near the intersection of Schalck and Halsted.

Authorities found a pistol inside the vehicle during a search.

When the firearm was found, Curry started running away from the scene on foot, court documents show.

He was eventually taken into custody in the 3200 block of Darwood Drive.

Curry is a documented Vice Lord gang member, officers reported.

He is charged with possession of a firearm without a FOID, possession of a weapon while being a felon, aggravated unlawful possession of a loaded firearm while in a vehicle, possession of a firearm while being a known gang member and resisting an officer.
