July 4th starts with similar weather we’ve been seeing – warm and humid conditions with lots of sunshine. By the afternoon, temperatures will climb back into the mid 90s. High humidity will make it feel like 105 degrees at times. One or two storms will be possible, but most celebrations will remain rain-free through the evening hours. For the fireworks celebrations around the area, temperatures will be in the 70s with high humidity.
In the tropics, we are monitoring an area of low pressure that is starting to develop off the Southeast coast. Models show this potentially developing into a weak tropical or subtropical system this weekend. This system will hang out along the Southeast coast bringing heavy rain, rough surf, and gusty winds to the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. It will not be a threat for Acadiana and the rest of the tropics remain quiet.
Locally, we won’t see any big changes in the forecast as temperatures will be in the 90s each day with pop-up storm possibilities each afternoon.
