Kindness, Inc. to close after 28 years of service

Kindness, Inc., a nonprofit organization that has provided nonmedical services to seniors and individuals in need since 1997, will close its doors on Aug. 31 after 28 years of service in Baxter and Marion counties.
The organization announced the decision Tuesday, citing a sustained decline in volunteer availability and the emergence of other transportation options in the area. The office will remain open through Sept. 15 to assist with the transition. Founded as a 501(c)(3), Kindness, Inc. offered transportation to medical appointments, grocery trips and daily reassurance calls, relying solely on donations from individuals, businesses, civic groups and grants without federal or state funding.

Debbie Womack, Executive Director for the organization says the closure is something they have seen coming for some time.
