Speaking from the nation’s capital, Pfluger described the bill as a measure that unleashes American energy, particularly in Texas’s Permian Basin, and strengthens border security and military capabilities.
“This is good for Texans. It’s good for my district, Texas 11, and it’s good for the country,” Pfluger said. “It allows our border patrol to have real resources and our military to recapitalize to again, get back to that position of deterrence.”
The bill extends tax cuts originally enacted stemming from the first Trump Administration, which Pfluger said would put more money back into the pockets of American families and support Main Street businesses. He acknowledged that while the bill does not achieve all desired savings, it marks an important first step.
“We are extending the tax cuts that President Trump passed in 2017. We’re allowing Main Street businesses to do the things they need to grow and to fuel this economy,” he said. “I wish we were saving more, quite frankly, but this is the first step.”
Pfluger also highlighted provisions aimed at protecting workers from new taxes on tips and overtime pay. He framed the bill as a rejection of the “fraud, waste, and abuse” he attributed to the Biden administration.
“It’s the spirit of this bill that gets people back to work, that gets rid of the fraud, waste, and abuse that Joe Biden was so proud of for four years,” Pfluger said.
The lawmaker expressed pride in the Republican Party’s ability to unite in delivering the legislation, which he said strengthens America’s security and supports family values.
“This bill delivers for every American family with more money back into your pockets and less money to the government,” Pfluger said. “I’m so proud to represent Texas 11 all the way from Odessa to Killeen and everywhere in between.”
He closed by thanking his constituents for the opportunity to represent them in the House of Representatives.
“Thank you for this honor to cast a vote on behalf of a constituency that, quite frankly, is the best throughout the country. God bless you,” Pfluger said.
