(KRON) — A fast-rising Los Angeles-based Korean BBQ chain is opening its first Bay Area restaurants. Chubby Cattle BBQ first opened two years ago but is quickly expanding its footprint across California and the country.

Chubby Cattle is opening three Bay Area restaurants in Pleasanton, Milpitas and Santa Clara. Based on its subsidiary Instagram page for the Bay Area, it appears the Pleasanton restaurant is the first to open. Chubby Cattle simply says the three locations are “coming soon.”

  • Pleasanton: 2693 Stoneridge Drive #106
  • Milpitas: 248 Great Mall Drive
  • Santa Clara: 3775 E El Camino Real

The Pleasanton restaurant is part of the Pacific Pearl shopping center, located next to the 99 Ranch Market. The Chubby Cattle in Milpitas is inside the Great Mall, next to Sephora and Chipotle. The Santa Clara location is across the street from Korean supermarket, Hankook.

Chubby Cattle BBQ serves an all-you-can-eat menu that is highlighted by three tiers of Wagyu: American, Australian and Japanese A5. The flagship restaurant in Rowland Heights even has an arcade and a VIP karaoke room.

The first location opened in Monterey Park (Los Angeles County) in April 2023, according to its website. It has since risen in popularity on social media with more than 17,000 followers on Instagram. Last year, Chubby Cattle BBQ in Rowland Heights was named one of Yelp’s 10 most photographed restaurants of 2024.

Chubby Cattle also operates a line of shabu-shabu and hotpot restaurants. The company has plans to expand its barbecue chain in New York, Texas, Honolulu and Denver.

KRON4 reached out to Chubby Cattle for more information about the three Bay Area locations’ respective opening dates. We did not hear back in time for publication.
