AUSTIN (KXAN) — Whether reporting a broken traffic light or complaining about a nagging alarm, Austinites have a lot to say when submitting a service request through 311.

As the city’s “all day, any day, info center,” Austin 311 provides a space to report issues or ask questions about what’s going on in the city. The service is available 24 hours a day, year-round, by calling 311 (or 512-974-2000), using the website or by using a mobile app.

Between January and June, 154,447 service requests were submitted to 311 from across the city — everything from reporting a sick or injured animal to fireworks complaints. Here’s a look at the top 10 most common service requests:

Noise complaints are the most-common service request, with more than 13,300 reports citywide. More than 12,300 requests for garbage collection were made, while 11,200 people requested a code officer.

May had the most requests so far, with more than 30,000 — an average of 970 requests per day. February had the fewest requests at 20,610.

Here’s a full list of service requests received by Austin 311 between January and June.

The data in this story is from the city of Austin’s Open Data Portal. An Austin 311 spokesperson told KXAN not every service request is reflected in the data, as some are removed to hide sensitive or personal information of residents who submit requests. The data in this story will be updated each month.
