WATCH: Heavy storms roll through the DC area

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A string of heavy rains, thunder and lightning rolled through the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region on Tuesday afternoon, causing dark skies and slick roadways.

One Logan Circle resident captured a lightning strike as the storms began rolling in.

Other viewers captured as their furry friends were watching the rain, such as these two pups in D.C.’s Navy Yard and in Ballston, Va.:

DC News Now caught a glimpse of a tree that had fallen in Prince George’s County, Md. It was blocking half the street on Hill Road in District Heights.
