Police: Loves Park man strangles teenage girl
LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Loves Park Police arrested Sheldon Powell, 57, for allegedly strangling a 16-year-old girl.

On July 1, officers were called to the 200 block of River Lane for reports of domestic battery.

The victim told officials she was lifted off the ground while she was being strangled. Officers viewed a video that was recorded during the incident that corroborated what the victim described.

The teen was taken to Javon Bea Hospital for treatment.

Powell is charged with domestic battery that caused physical contact and aggravated domestic battery that caused strangulation.
