‘Multiple locations involved’: 1 person dead in East Wonsley Drive homicide, APD says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is investigating a homicide on East Wonsley Drive in north Austin after a man was found with “obvious trauma” and later died.  

During a media briefing Tuesday, APD said there was another person who police believe was involved in the incident. According to police, that person was being treated at the hospital. Police did not name the victim or the person possibly involved.

Officers responded to a high-priority service call in the 400 block of East Wonsley Drive, just north of East Anderson Lane and Interstate-35 around 5:15 p.m.

The department said a 911 caller told police that a person was lying on the ground unconscious with blood. 

APD said officers along with Austin-Travis County EMS performed life-saving measures on the man. He was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m., according to APD.

Austin Police said this was large crime scene and believe there are “multiple locations involved.” 

The department said this is still an active crime scene and those nearby should use alternate routes. APD said this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. 

This incident mark’s Austin’s 31st homicide in 2025.
