McMaster to lead first meeting of Trump’s Homeland Security Advisory Council

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Gov. Henry McMaster is traveling to Washington, D.C. later this week to chair the first meeting of President Trump’s Homeland Security Advisory Council.

The 22-member panel also includes former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Homeland Security adviser Corey Lewandowski and Bikers for Trump co-founder Chris Cox.

Formed in 2002, the council provides advice and recommendations to the Homeland Security secretary and is comprised of leaders from state and local government, first responder communities, the private sector and academia.

“HSAC will work hard on developing new Policies and Strategies that will help us secure our Border, deport Illegal Criminal Thugs, stop the flow of Fentanyl and other illegal drugs that are killing our Citizens, and MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN,” Trump said in an April Truth Social post announcing the council’s members.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Department of Homeland Security’s headquarters.
