According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies tried to run a traffic stop on a vehicle thought to be part of illegal drug trafficking. The vehicle fled at high speeds, prompting a chase, after the driver tried to hit patrol vehicles and deputies with his vehicle.
The chase lasted several miles, crossing from Richmond County, North Carolina, into Marlboro County, South Carolina. The driver, Nyshawn Jermaine Miles of Wallace, S.C., was eventually arrested without issue. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
Miles has arrest warrants out of Richmond County for a firearm charge and is also wanted for charges out of two South Carolina counties. Authorities say they seized from the vehicle illegal narcotics and a gun that is considered a weapon of mass destruction.
Miles is being held at the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition. His charges are pending on the investigation. Federal agencies have been alerted to the weapon of mass destruction.
