ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A manufacturer who has been making packaging for national brands since 1904 is investing over $10 million into its Rockford facility over the next year.

JL Clark, at 923 23rd Avenue, is purchasing new machines and equipment and increasing its workforce by 40%, or around 70 new jobs.

The company hopes that it will have a springboard effect, with its suppliers and contractors hiring more workforce to keep up with the company’s demand.

“And it’s changed over the years. We used to make packages for artillery, for the military. We used to make talc containers, things that are really obsolete now, that don’t exist,” said President Bob Morris. “So we’ve had to migrate and adjust as the times change, and the needs change. This will allow us to do that even further.”

Morris said JL Clark makes donations to local charities twice a year to give back to the community that supported it.
