The Indianapolis Fire Department was called to the Tru by Hilton hotel at 4:40 p.m. This hotel is located just one block from Lucas Oil Stadium on Russell Avenue.
The FOX59/CBS4 tower cam showed firefighters arriving on the roof while visible flames and black smoke rose into the sky near the edge of the building.
Fire crews acted fast, knocking down the fire quickly. As of 5:10 p.m., flames and smoke were no longer visible on the tower cam.
According to officials with the Indianapolis Fire Department, multiple callers reported to 911 about flames on the roof of the hotel at around 4:40 p.m. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found “heavy fire showing.”
Officials with the department said that firefighters aggressively attacked the fire, which was brought under control in around 20 minutes. Occupants of the building, including around seven works and an unknown number of guests, evacuated. No injuries were reported.
“The hotel will relocate the guests to other properties,” the department said. “The fire was contained to the roof.”
The cause of the fire is unknown, officials with the fire department said.
