According to court documents obtained by FOX59/CBS4, William Overman is facing 25 counts for possession of child pornography, with each being a level 5 felony.
The investigation into Overman began on April 16, when a detective with the Henry County Sheriff’s Department received a cybertip claiming a suspect uploaded an image believed to depict child pornography.
The phone number that had uploaded the suspicious image was connected to an address based in Anderson. Detectives soon turned their attention to Overman after Verizon approved their subpoena request to obtain information about the suspect’s phone number, court documents said.
On April 22, detectives executed a search warrant at Overman’s residence in the 4300 block of S. State Road 109, but learned that Overman had recently moved to a residence in Spiceland located in the 200 block of E. Maple Street. Detectives then turned their attention to Overman’s Spiceland home. Detectives ultimately seized a Samsung Galaxy cell phone, one USB thumb drive and two laptops.
Court documents revealed that detectives uncovered over 100 images and videos containing alleged child sex abuse material on the thumb drive. Detectives also reportedly found additional child sex abuse files on Overman’s personal phone.
Overman was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Henry County Jail, where he is being held on a bond the court has set at $187,500 surety and $18,750 in cash.
Online court records indicate Overman pled not guilty Wednesday in Henry Circuit Court 1. Overman is due to appear for his jury trial on Oct. 27.
