CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — Independence Day is almost here, and StormTracker 13 Meteorologists predict some phenomenal weather for the next few days. Sunshine will dominate the skies for the end of the work week, but will Mother Nature hold out for the 4th of July?

There will be a few low-level clouds in southeastern Ohio, but rain showers will hold off through the holiday weekend. Kentucky and West Virginia will see mostly clear skies all day.

Temperature-wise, expect hot and humid conditions. Highs will be near 90 degrees for the afternoon hours, and 80s will stick around through the evening hours.

While we will not meet any extreme heat thresholds, the heat index is expected to climb close to mid-90s for some areas during the afternoon, with temperatures still feeling like the mid and upper 80s during prime fireworks hours.
