Truck hauling acid overturns in Scott, road closed for cleanup
SCOTT, La. (KLFY) — An overturned truck has caused a road in Scott to close while hazmat crews transfer its cargo, authorities said.
The Scott Fire Department responded at 6:19 a.m. today to a major vehicle accident requiring rescue at 700 Heide Circle in Scott.
The vehicle was a tractor-trailer was transporting acid, prompting a request for assistance from the Lafayette Hazardous Materials Unit. The driver escaped safely prior to the firefighters’ arrival.

Although no leaks have been detected, transferring the acid to another vehicle will require several hours, officials said. The Louisiana State Police has been notified and is helping to safely upright the tractor-trailer.
Fire officials are asking motorists to please avoid the area.
