South End sees 106% rise in cellphone thefts: CMPD

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is warning about a rise in cellphone thefts in South End.

For months, thieves have been targeting cellphones in some of the area’s most popular bars and restaurants.

Data shows 37 cellphone larcenies between Jan. 1 and June 23, a 106% increase in these districts compared to 2024.
