Machensey Park woman accused of attacking elderly, disabled victim with extension cord

MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Machesney Park Police arrested Trisha Shank, 43, for allegedly attacking an elderly, disabled woman with an extension cord.

Officers were called to a trailer park in the 9300 block of North Second Street for reports of domestic battery on June 29, around 5:40 p.m. The woman told authorities that Shank pulled her out of her wheelchair by her hair.

She proceeded to strike the victim with an extension cord and strangle her, according to court records. Two witnesses corroborated the victim’s story.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Shank is charged with aggravated domestic battery to a victim over 60 years old, aggravated battery to a victim who is handicapped, aggravated domestic battery that caused strangulation and criminal property damage.
