KOKOMO, Ind. — A Bunker Hill man is under arrest after police say he attempted to hire a hitman to kill someone in Kokomo.
Andrew Eldridge, 36, is currently being held in the Howard County Jail on a preliminary charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
According to the Kokomo Police Department, detectives were tipped off on June 26 about Eldridge allegedly inquiring about having someone from Kokomo killed.
Police began investigating the accusations, and on June 27, Eldridge unknowingly met with an undercover detective. During this meeting, Eldridge allegedly inquired about having someone killed. Eldridge was subsequently taken into custody.
Official charges have not yet been filed against Eldridge. Final charging will be decided by the Howard County Prosecutor’s Office.
In Indiana, conspiracy to commit murder is a Level 2 felony if the crime doesn’t result in the death of an individual. A Level 2 felony can carry up to 30 years in prison.
