Human skull found on private property in Owen County

OWEN COUNTY, Ind. — An investigation is underway after a human skull was discovered on private property in Owen County.

According to the Owen County Sheriff’s Department, a skull was found on private property around 30 feet from a wooded area near North Cataract Road. OCSD said the agency’s cadaver dogs were deployed to search for additional human remains in the area. However, none were ultimately found.

The skull was brought in for additional testing, where experts confirmed it to be an adult. It was then sent to the Indiana State Police laboratory for additional testing and to collect DNA samples.
