PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Multiple agencies in the Piedmont Triad released statements over the weekend offering condolences after a Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office deputy was killed in a head-on crash.
Johnathan Andrew Laws, a deputy with the WCSO, was driving a 2018 Nissan Altima traveling south on Red White and Blue Road near Ruth Linny Road when a 2003 Jeep Liberty traveling north crashed into it head-on.
Laws was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Elkin, where he died.
The driver of the Jeep and one more passenger also died in the crash, and two others were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
