ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Another large party is pending at an Abilene hookah lounge in the wake of a third violent shooting at the location this year, leaving nearby business owners frustrated.
The party, which advertises a crowd of more than 100 people, is set to take place at the Bravo Hookah Lounge on N 6th Street Saturday night.
Nearby business owner Shawnte Fleming says she’s tried to get the City of Abilene to address the repeated violence at the location and that she’s tired of talking about the issue. She’s now asking people to stand outside the location during the party Saturday as a sign of peaceful protest.
Another business owner also expressed her frustrations, saying she’s tried to get city officials to put a stop to the violence as well.
A subletter of the hookah lounge, who only identified himself as Jack, told KTAB and KRBC he holds the keys and that the doors will not be unlocked Saturday, despite there being a party advertised.
Two victims were hospitalized after the most recent shooting early Sunday morning, and both Fleming and the other business owner say they had to step over blood to get to work Monday morning.
No suspects have been arrested in connection to this crime, and the investigation is still ongoing.

In October 2024, Day’shaun Colen, 32, was shot an killed by security officer Teddy Lee Mills while a crowd was trying to push their way inside the same hookah lounge.
