ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — Alexandria police are investigating a stabbing and a shooting that happened on Sunday.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said officers responded to the 6000 block of Edsall Road at around 6 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been stabbed. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officers then found another man inside a building. He died there.

APD said initially, the man was believed to have been stabbed, but after further investigation, it was revealed that he had died of a gunshot wound. He was later identified as 42-year-old Daniel Foster.
