LaGRANGE, Ga. (WRBL) — Deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office are advising the public to be aware of scam text messages that are prompting drivers to pay an unpaid traffic violation.
The sheriff’s office posted a message on Facebook on Sunday and warned the public to be aware of the scam text messages that could potentially expose personal information or lead to a fraud incident.

The message says “Unpaid Ticket Notice – Final Enforcement Warning,” while continuing to say that there is an “unpaid traffic citation and that the drivers registration will be suspended.”
The message adds that “driving privileges will be revoked for 30 days,” and to pay immediately, which prompts you to copy or click a link to pay the ticket.
Anyone that comes across this message should simply ignore the message, do not click any suspicious links or provide any personal information and to be sure, contact the local Department of Drivers Services if unclear on any possible unpaid tickets.
