NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Another candidate will soon join in the race for the New Orleans mayoral seat.
State Senator Royce Duplessis announced Sunday, June 29, his plans to run. He previously stated that he would not pursue the seat due to “the lack of campaign money.”
In a recent post to Instagram he stated:
Six months ago, I made the very difficult decision not to run for mayor.
But after continuing to listen to the people of this city, your frustrations, your disappointments, your confusion, and most of all your lack of faith in the future, it became painfully clear that I have to run.
An official announcement will be made on Tuesday, July 1, at the Ashé Powerhouse at 6 p.m.
Also running are City Councilmember Helena Moreno, City Councilmember Oliver Thomas, former judge and former New Orleans Police Department officer Arthur Hunter, former 911 chief Tyrell Morris, Licensed Counselor Ricky Twiggs and Entrepreneur and Business Coach Renada Collins.
