Portland woman accused of stabbing partner in attempt to drive home from Amity

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Portland woman is facing several charges after authorities say she stabbed her domestic partner in the hand, arm, and abdomen on Saturday.

Ashley Shankle, 40, is accused of the domestic violence stabbing that took place at SE Amity-Dayton Highway in rural Amity just before 4 p.m., according to the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say the woman stabbed her partner with a pair of scissors and a knife because he had their car keys and refused to let her leave to drive back to Portland. The man said he had been concerned about Shankle’s level of intoxication at the time and called deputies.

The caller was reportedly cut on his hand and stabbed on the right side of his abdomen.

Shankle faces charges of second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, interfering with making a report, and harassment. She is being held at the Yamhill County jail.
