ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (DC News Now) — Over 70 residents at a senior care facility were displaced after a sprinkler pipe broke on Saturday evening.
Howard County officials said in an update Sunday that a total of 74 residents were displaced from a facility in the 3000 block of North Ridge Road in Ellicott City, where HeartLands Senior Living Village at Ellicott City is located.
86 other residents were relocated to an unaffected side of the building.
Firefighters responded to the facility around 11:30 p.m. Saturday after a call about an alarm sounding and water flooding into rooms.
Crews reported that a sprinkler pipe had broken, causing flooding in the building.
At that time, 160 residents were transported to other facilities via ambulance and the Mobile Ambulance Bus.
Montgomery County Fire & Rescue and the Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to assist.
Nobody was injured, according to firefighters.
