GERMANTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — One person has been displaced after a Sunday townhouse fire in Germantown, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
In a post shortly before 3:30 p.m. on X by Pete Piringer with MCFRS, firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 13100 block of Diamond Hill Court off Crystal Rock Drive.
There, flames could be seen from the backside of the two-story townhouse, spreading to the second floor and roof.
Firefighters say everyone safely escaped unharmed, and the house sustained moderate damage.
According to firefighters, the fire ignited after the outside air conditioning unit malfunctioned, sparking a fire up the vinyl of the home.
Roughly 50 firefighters were on scene to extinguish the flames.
