SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Red River Revel is returning for its 49th year, and this year it will take place over two weekends for the very first time, from September 25-28 and October 2-5.
“This announcement comes after many months of hard work by our team, and we are overjoyed to finally share it with the public,” said Logan Lewis, Executive Director of the Red River Revel. “We believe that transitioning to a two-weekend format is going to be much more convenient for festival attendees, volunteers, vendors, and artists while still offering eight exciting days of visual art, performances, and dynamic family entertainment.”
The 49th Annual Red River Revel will feature a variety of musical acts, both nationally and locally, across four stages. Headliners include:
September 25-28 (Weekend One)
October 2-5 (Weekend Two)
A full lineup of musical performances can be found at redriverrevel.com/rrr/music-lineup. The performance schedule and additional performances from dancers, theatre groups, and children’s programming will be revealed later.
The official poster artwork was created from “Monsieur Paradiddle,” a sculpture by Revel artist Nichól Brinkman of Pink Cheeks Studios. The one-of-a-kind sculpture employs a variety of patterns, textures, and techniques.
“It was such an honor to be selected as the poster artist,” said Brinkman. “I had so much fun creating something that embodies the charm and joy of the Red River Revel, and I hope everyone loves Monsieur Paradiddle.”
This year’s festival theme, “The Beat Goes On,” celebrates the rhythmic elements of music and drumming. The festival will include workshops led by acclaimed drummers Staton Moore, Brady Blade, John Hoffman, Nikki Glaspie, and Sam Shahin.
“Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the art of drumming, learning techniques and styles, while enjoying the festival’s lively atmosphere,” a press release stated.
The Red River Revel will also be implementing the Billfold payment method for all food, beverages, merchandise, and activities this year. The cashless system will allow guests to link a credit card to their wristbands.
“The overwhelming benefit of this awesome technology is that there will be no balances to add, cashouts to request, or coupons to keep up with,” Lewis said. “Revelers will only have to link the wristband one time, keep more of their money, and never have to visit the booth again. In short: a game changer.”
The 49th Annual Red River Revel will be held from September 25-28 and October 2-5 at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. For more information about musical guests, food and drink vendors, and artists and creators, visit redriverrevel.com.
