According to information from Sheriff Alexander, they went to Torres’ residence to serve a warrant for possession of a firearm by certain persons, meaning Torres is a convicted felon. Alexander knocked on the door and identified himself to Torres, who attempted to shut the door to keep from being taken into custody. Sheriff Alexander pushed through the door, attempting to take Torres into custody, but he began to actively resist. Torres continued to resist arrest until additional deputies made entry into the residence and were able to restrain him. While resisting arrest, Torres retrieved a black handgun from his waistband and threw it behind a bed.

Later that night, sheriff’s office investigators executed a search warrant at the residence and found two additional firearms and ammunition.

Torres is facing four felony counts of possession of firearms by a certain person and a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. He is being held in the Marion County Detention Center on bonds totaling $25,000.
