The Baton Rouge man was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Morris was a former student and had siblings who attended the school. According to an arrest report, Morris is accused of forcing his way into the building, which caused a lockdown.

According to an affidavit, Morris is also accused of making threatening statements, saying that he would shoot up the school.

EBRSO said the man went into the main office of the school and proceeded to confront a staff member about an incident involving other students and his sister.

The sheriff’s office was told by staff members that Morris became hostile and ran around the hallways of the school.

According to multiple witnesses, Morris then threatened to shoot up the school.

The assistant principal said he heard Morris say that, “people get shot for doing this to my sister,” according to the affidavit.

The man left the school, but tried to get back inside multiple times, the sheriff’s office said.

Police were able to view video footage, which they said showed Morris running and screaming inside the school.

The affidavit stated that Morris also tried to attack multiple students in the cafeteria.

EBRSO said administrators were able to stop the incident from escalating.

A school employee was hurt while trying to secure the front door of the attendance office. EBRSO said Morris banged and shook the door before pushing it into the employee. The injury caused the employee to miss work.

The middle school worked to ensure the safety of students and staff. EBRSO said Morris also made a threat against the school online.
