LOUREAUVILLE, La. (KLFY) — On Saturday, the village of Loureauville kicked off their summer with sweet success during their first annual Lemonade Day.
Stands were set up throughout the village in the park, fire station and at their homes.
As a part of the event, members of the Loreauville Community Project are teaching kids how to be young entrepreneurs. Children had the opportunity to set up their lemonade stands and sell various treats, like cookies, candy and popcorn.
Brad Clifton, the mayor of Loreauville and a chairperson of the Loreauville Community Project says a total of 26 vendors participated, with a day focused on fun, learning and community pride.
“It’s our very first Loreauville Community Project Lemonade Day,” said Clifton. “Here in the village of Loreauville, we have 26 vendors selling lemonade, candy, popcorn and everything is out here and we just enjoying the day.”
News 10 also got a chance to speak with a few kids about this experience means to them.
“There was a lot of people that came we could not count,” said Taylee Comeaux, a participant set up at the park. “I think it’s nice that people got to support our business and it was very nice cause we got a lot of supporters and mostly family.”
Alayna McGinn, a participant, had her stand set up at her home. She says she was excited for the event and what it means to the community.
“I’m very excited,” said McGinn. “It’s meaningful to me because I got to spend time with my family, and a lot of people came to my stand.”
Organizers say they plan to host another Lemonade Day next year.
