Golden Gate Bridge, ferry tolls set to increase Tuesday, here’s how much

(KRON) – Another Bay Area bridge is raising its tolls. The Golden Gate Bridge (GGB) and Golden Gate Ferry and Transit fares are set to increase on Tuesday. 

The GGB toll is scheduled to increase by .50 cents, and the ferry will be an extra .25 cents. For people who commute to work using the bridge five times a week will now have to pay an extra $10 a month and $120 annually. 

Per the GGB District, the revenue from the price spike, “will allow the District to provide ongoing maintenance of the Golden Gate Bridge, continue Golden Gate bus and ferry transit service, and address a portion of a projected $220 million five-year shortfall.”

The District claims it does not receive any dedicated state or local tax revenues and has seen a significant drop in riders since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Price Increases

• The FasTrak Account rate will increase from $9.25 to $9.75
• The Pay-As-You-Go rate (includes License Plate Accounts and One-Time Payments) will increase from $9.50 to $10.00
• The Toll Invoice rate will increase from $10.25 to $10.75
• The carpool rate will increase from $7.25 to $7.75. Multi-axle vehicle toll rates will also increase.

According to the Golden Gate Highway and Transportation District, discount transit fare programs will still be in effect for Clipper users, seniors, youth, persons with disabilities, and low-income riders who participate in the Clipper START program.
