BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A failed traffic stop and short chase overnight ended with four people in custody and a damaged Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) unit.
BRPD initiated a traffic stop a little after midnight Monday, June 30, in the 9000 block of Airline Highway.
According to authorities, the driver of a black Ford Mustang sped away after being pulled over. A vehicle pursuit unfolded and ended in the 8200 block of Maplewood Drive.
Police said the driver hit a marked BRPD unit on purpose at the end of the chase.
The driver and three others inside the Mustang tried to get away but were caught by police.
BRPD said no serious injuries were reported in connection with the chase.
The driver is facing multiple charges, including aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, improper display of a license plate, and aggravated damage to property.
The man was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
BRPD said the three passengers were also detained and charged in this case.
