Firefighters are responding to a vegetation fire that has burned approximately 15 acres in San Bernardino County, according to The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The blaze, named the “Smiley Fire,” was reported near San Timoteo Canyon Road and Smiley Road, south of Redlands. The fire was moving at a moderate rate of spread and threatening at least one structure to the south of the fire zone, officials said.
However, as of the latest update shared by CAL FIRE on X (formerly Twitter), the forward rate of spread has been stopped.
CAL FIRE’s San Bernardino Unit remains on scene, continuing to secure the perimeter and monitor for hotspots. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No evacuation orders have been issued, but authorities urge nearby residents to stay informed in case conditions change.
