Christus Health awarded for excellence in social responsibility

TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — CHRISTUS Health has been recognized as one of the most socially responsible health care systems in the country.

According to the Lown Institute Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility, many of the CHRISTUS Health hospitals in Texas received an A grade. This includes the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, which received the grade based on health equity, patient outcomes, and value of care.

CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System spent $24.49 million in the region for charity care and community services in the last fiscal year. Charity care is a program dedicated to helping patients who qualify pay for their accrued medical bills through CHRISTUS.

are what distinguish us, and we remain deeply committed to investing in our communities as we
continue to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”

CHRISTUS will also award funds to six local organizations to help them fulfill their missions through the CHRISTUS Community Impact Fund. Those organizations are: Community Healthcore, HandsOn Texarkana, Harvest Regional Food Bank, Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center, Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center, and The Salvation Army of Greater Texarkana.

community,” Adams said. “The funds awarded to these outstanding organizations remain local,
directly benefiting those in need.”
