CEDAR CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A body was found in Cedar Canyon just outside of Cedar City Friday night, according to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 7:35 p.m. on June 27, Iron County deputies responded to a report of a deceased individual found along Coal Creek, between mileposts 3 and 4 on SR-14 in Cedar Canyon.
Upon arrival, deputies found the body of a deceased woman, around 60 years of age, beneath a bush near Coal Creek. Her death is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
“The Iron County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all personnel and agencies who responded swiftly and professionally to this incident,” a press release from the sheriff’s office states. “Special thanks are extended to our Deputies, the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), the Office of the Medical Examiner, and the Cedar Fire Department. Your coordinated efforts and professionalism were vital, and your service is deeply valued.”
The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending further investigation.
