ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The “Stop the Billionaire Giveaway” bus made a stop in Rockford to protest President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.”
Fair Share USA started the bus tour on June 21 and will finish the tour on July 14.
The organization aims to raise awareness among Americans around the country by protesting cuts to programs such as Medicaid and SNAP.
The bus made two stops in Illinois today, one in Chicago and another in Rockford. Leaders want residents to know what could be at stake if Trump passes the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
“So often, what we see from Washington D.C. is that backroom deals get cut without the input and voices of the voters and constituents that they serve,” said Director of Fair Share America Kristen Crowell. We’re really trying to shine a light on the stories and the people that will be impacted if this bill would pass, and making them really look us in the eye and say ‘no, this is not what we want, we do not want you to vote for this.”
Rockford was the 12th stop on the bus tour.
