Arch Manning previews first season as Texas’ starting QB at Manning Passing Academy

THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO)The Manning Passing Academy was another example of the strong support system that Arch Manning has behind him, as the former Newman standout and Texas quarterback prepares for his first year as the Longhorns’ starter.

“Anytime you can get guys that have been around football as much as my family to be in my corner and support me, it’s a true blessing,” Arch said. “I’m glad I get to have them to lean on for all the advice I need.”

The advice he’s received from his uncles Peyton and Eli, his father Cooper, and his grandfather Archie will help him find success in Austin.

“I’m doing what I can to control what I can control. Not worried about what other people think. Just do my job, prepare and when it’s time to go play, play,” Arch said.

“There’s a lot written and said about Arch, but he doesn’t say much,” Archie said. “He doesn’t talk about himself and we don’t talk about him much. We’re excited for him, hope he can stay healthy and he will be fine.”

“I’m very proud of him, of how hard he has worked,” Peyton said. “I’m looking forward to watching him play. He’s put a lot of time in and has been patient, so I am looking forward to seeing him out there.”

Arch threw nine touchdown passes and had four rushing scores in seven appearances for Texas in 2024, and made two starts.

“Anytime you can get live-action reps, it helps a lot to get games under your belt,” Arch said. “I was fortunate to get games under my belt last year, and I am ready for this year.”

Arch sat behind Quinn Ewers for two years before earning the Longhorns’ starting quarterback gig, and he says it was worth the wait.

“There was nowhere else I wanted to be besides Texas. I knew it was where I wanted to play all along, and I am glad to get this opportunity this year.”

There’s plenty of confidence in Arch across the country as he is the Heisman favorite, and the Longhorns have the best odds (+500) of winning the 2025 national title.
