15-year-old charged after Port Gibson shooting injures another teen

PORT GIBSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Port Gibson police announced a 15-year-old was charged as an adult in connection to a shooting that injured another teenager.

The shooting occurred on Marginal Street on June 25. Police said a 15-year-old girl was injured during the shooting.

Following an investigation, police arrested Byron January, 15. He was charged as an adult with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $50,000.

Police said Or’Javion Hill and Or’Darion Hill, both 17, were charged with accessory after the fact. Jamarion Mallett, 18, was charged with shooting inside city limits.

“We take incidents like this very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring justice is served. If there are any plans of retaliation or further violence, I want to make it clear that every individual involved will be held accountable. We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and protect our community. My prayers are with everyone that’s involved in this incident,” said Port Gibson Police Chief Russell Dorsey.
