SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A search for a 34-year-old man in Salt Lake City ended in a high-speed crash that left one person in critical condition early Friday morning, according to Unified Police.
Unified Police detectives were looking for the suspect, 34, when the individual “may have recognized” a detective and fled the area of 3900 South State St., driving at a high rate of speed.
At around 1:10 a.m., while speeding, the suspect reportedly crashed into another vehicle at 2100 South 300 East. He allegedly then ran from the scene into the neighborhood.
Multiple agencies, including K9 teams and drone units, helped to find and arrest the suspect. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and will be booked into jail once medically cleared.
The 29-year-old driver of the vehicle he crashed into was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger, 26, was hospitalized with critical injuries.
The road reopened at around 6 a.m., police said.
