FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man is accused of stealing from two grocery stores in Fresno earlier this month, the city’s police department said on Thursday.

Officers say they are looking for a man accused of theft at two popular grocery stores. The first one was at the WinCo Foods at 1004 S. Peach Ave. on June 1; the suspect allegedly stole over $650 in merchandise.

According to police, the second theft was at a Vons on June 18, where the suspect allegedly stole approximately $300 in merchandise. Fresno Police says that, as a result of Prop 36, they are now able to charge chronic retail theft suspects with additional felonies that carry “stiffer penalties and increased jail time.”
