HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A nonprofit organization wants the Pennsylvania State House to give funding for roads and bridges the green light.
The D.C.-based National Transportation Research Group said PennDOT and local governments do a good job utilizing the resources they have available to fund infrastructure. But they said it’s not enough.
“Moving forward, state and local governments will face a significant challenge with improving local roads and bridges, and also improving safety on these vital transportation links,” said Rocky Moretti, director of policy and research for the group.
The State House recently passed a bill that would include an additional $500 million for repairing roads and bridges. House Bill 1364 passed 107-96, with nearly all Republicans voting against the transportation bill.
It now head to the Republican-controlled State Senate, where its future is unclear.
