ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – Construction of the S. Prestley and Helen Blake Ambulatory Care Center in Enfield, Connecticut, is now complete and ready for patients.
It’s been over six years in the making for the new ambulatory care center, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the longtime support of S. Prestley and Helen Blake.
The center is named after the couple who donated $10 million to go towards the development before they passed. On Thursday, the local Enfield community gathered for a blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
22News heard words from staff members and the Blake family, who all joined for the celebration. The ceremony ended with a closing blessing from one of Enfield’s reverends. This was a $50 million project to help renovate and build this “hub” for outpatient services.
“Under Trinity Health of New England, the s. Prestley and Helen Blake Ambulatory Care Center is on the campus of the Johnson Memorial Hospital,” said Susan Abello, daughter of S. Prestley and Helen Blake.
The center is a two-floor outpatient facility and features four operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and twenty operative bays. This new center is not a replacement for any existing centers at the hospital, but an additional resource for people.
Patients will have access to various tests, including CT scans, mammograms, and ultrasounds. The ambulatory care center is in full swing and is already booking patients as early as next week.
