NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The 2025 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame induction celebration began with interviews and an introductory press conference on Thursday.
One of this year’s inductees was former LA Tech and WNBA star Vickie Johnson. With the Lady Techsters she played four years helping them achieve a record of 116-17 in that span. She totaled 1,891 points and collected 831 rebounds in her college career with All-American honors in 1995 and ‘96.
After college she spent time playing before joining the WNBA in its inaugural season in 1997 where she began a 13-year career. She played nine seasons for the New York Liberty and four with the San Antonio Silver Stars, starting 408 of her 410 professional games. Johnson, made two All-Star games and coached for the Dallas Wings and the Atlanta Dream.
After an incredible career, she is excited about the future of the sport and she thanks social media for helping promote the game. Stars like Aja Wilson, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Plum are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
Johnson is set to join the many incredible athletes in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony is set for this Saturday, with the Purple Carpet show beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the ceremony at 7 p.m.
