ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Alexander County 911 responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in Taylorsville Tuesday afternoon.

When officers arrived, they found James Roger Morton suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital, where he was airlifted to Baptist Hospital.

The investigation revealed that Kelly Jerome Warren had shot the victim through an exterior door following a verbal argument.

Warren has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond, with a first court appearance scheduled for June 30, 2025.
