Staff report

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — My Paws Service Dogs, a locally based service dog training organization, will host a free community event this Sunday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Switchyard Park.

The event is aimed at individuals living with disabilities who may benefit from a task-trained service dog. Trainers will be on site to offer free consultations and evaluations to help determine whether a service dog could be a helpful support option.

“Our mission is to empower disabled individuals through highly trained service dogs tailored to their specific needs,” said Siarra Dennies, founder of My Paws Service Dogs.

In addition, the organization recently received a donation of a purebred German Shepherd puppy from a reputable breeder. The group hopes to match the puppy with a U.S. military veteran in need of a service dog. Discounted training rates will be offered to the selected veteran, and the dog will be trained specifically for service work.

The event is open to the public. For more information, visit My Paws Service Dogs or contact the organization directly.
