NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A performer for the Super Bowl halftime show has been arrested after he allegedly caused a disturbance during the performance back on Feb. 9.

According to the Louisiana State Police, during the show, 41-year-old performer Zul-Quarnain Kwame Nantambu, of New Orleans, allegedly broke from his assigned role to run across the field with a flag which read “Sudan and Free Gaza.”

Troopers say Nantambu was quickly apprehended after he refused to stop. He was later identified as a suspect by the LSP, with investigation reportedly confirming that he was hired as an extra performer during the halftime show.

LSP officials said he was arrested after surrendering himself on June 26 and was then booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on charges of resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by interruption of a lawful assembly.
