(KRON) — Over the weekend, more than $3,300 worth of candles were stolen in Vallejo, the Vallejo Police Department announced on social media Wednesday. VPD officers responded to a theft on Saturday, June 21 at the Gateway Plaza shopping center on the 100 block of Plaza Drive.

The theft resulted in police discovering 126 candles stolen from an unnamed store.

Witnesses reported that four suspects entered an unnamed store with backpacks and duffle bags and loaded them with the merchandise, which was also stolen, according to VPD. Police did not reveal the victim store’s name, but the shopping center has a Michaels, Marshalls, Ross, Target and Bath & Body Works.

The suspects, VPD said, drove away in a stolen black Nissan sedan. Officers later found the Nissan parked about four miles away on the 1300 block of North Camino Alto. Two of the four suspects were detained near the vehicle, but the other two managed to escape when they ran towards a nearby apartment complex.

One of the detained suspects was a minor; he was cited and released to his parents. The other suspect, a man, was booked into Solano County Jail on multiple felony charges of grand theft, conspiracy and possession of a stolen vehicle.

As of Wednesday, the remaining two suspects are at large. The stolen merchandise was returned to the store, and the owner of the stolen vehicle was informed by VPD that it had been recovered.
