MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Major changes are coming to the bus systems people rely on in the DMV this Sunday — not only with Metrobus, but also Montgomery County’s Ride On system.
In tandem with Metro’s “Better Bus Network,” the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will implement the first phase of its Ride On Reimagined plan on Sunday, June 29.
This includes new and updated routes, as well as schedule adjustments.
MCDOT said the service changes will bring streamlined connections to Metrorail, prevent overlap with Metrobus routes and allow for more reliable service in high-demand areas.
An outline of Ride On’s final changes can be found here and new schedules can be found online and on the Ride On Trip Planner app.
MCDOT said it will also implement a zero-fare policy on Sunday, reducing barriers to access for many residents and allowing the county to avoid the high cost of replacing and maintaining the fare collection system.
